New Graduate Nursing Residency Program

The Guidance Center is pleased to announce it’s first New Graduate Nursing Residency Program! This program was developed by Director of Nursing, Guy C. Lamunyon MSN, RN, Nurse Educator Lorraine Bartlett-Sung BSN, RN, Nurse Executive Amy Minter BSN, RN and Nurse Manager Sharon Creek BSN, RN. Nursing staff from The Guidance Center will serve as preceptors and mentors for this program. Five new graduates will enter this training based on model programs described in the Archives of Psychiatric Nursing.
In addition to the model programs described in the Archives of Psychiatric Nursing.(Nadler-Moodie & Loucks, 2011), graduates will also study Novice to Expert (Benner, 1984), ANA Code of Ethics (American Nursing Association, 2015), ANA Psychiatric-mental Health Nursing Scope and Standards of Practice (American Nursing Association (2014) and Varcarolis' Foundations of Psychiatric Mental Health (Halter, 2017).
The initial program will consist of 3 weeks classroom and clinical experiences, a 5 week preceptorship followed by a one year mentorship beginning May 21, 2018.
